OHS Orchestras Updates and Reminders (Week of October 21)

Our First Concert is Fast Approaching!  Please mark your Calendars for the following upcoming Orchestra happenings:

FALL CONCERT, OCTOBER 29:  our first concert of the year is fast approaching next week, Tuesday October 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the OHS Auditorium.  Practice, practice, practice!  Please note that our student performers will wear special attire for this concert:   Awesome Orchestra T-shirt (distributed in class last week), dark blue jeans (shirt tucked in), black dress shoes and socks (no sneakers or athletic shoes), black belt.  Performers should also accessorize for each piece they play (appropriate hat, scarf, prop, etc.) culminating in special prop for Ghost Carnival finale - silly/crazy/wacky hat (think them park style).  Be the creative souls that we know you are and surprise us! We can't wait to be WOWED by a wonderful and fun performance next week!
A reception will follow in the lobby immediately following the concert.  Volunteers will be asked to sign up online soon to provide drinks and goodies! 
SWEETZ CHEESECAKE FUNDRAISER kicked off this week in all classes.  This is historically our biggest fundraiser of the year, so please encourage sales to friends, teachers, family and neighbors.  Orchestra students are selling ULTRA YUMMY  cheesecakes to raise funds for our spring trip to NY and other orchestra programming costs. Please ask your child for the informational flier and order form.  100% percent of profits will be credited to individual student accounts to defray trip and other program costs.  Please collect payments at the time of order, checks payable to "Oakton High School".  Orders are due by November 7th and 8th.  Cheesecakes will be delivered to school on Monday afternoon, November 25, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday!  More information on the Cheesecake Fundraiser page or contact fundraiser coordinator Tammy Ham for more information. 
UNIFORM ORDERS WILL ARRIVE SOON! Students should try on their uniforms as soon as they arrive to make sure they fit.  Alterations will be the responsibility of students. Exchanges will be possible only as long as Mr. Oppenheimer is notified IMMEDIATELY of severely ill-fitting attire.   Note that several students have still not turned in their order forms and payment (tsk, tsk).  Late orders will now be charged an additional $10 express shipping fee, so please include that amount in your payment.
TRIP DEPOSITS will continue  to be accepted through this coming Friday in case you've changed your mind about participating because you can't stand the thought of missing this most awesome field trip ever (or because you just kept forgetting to turn in your money). Checks are payable to Oakton High School for $200.  This is your LAST CHANCE to participate in our ultra fun and educational spring trip to New York! Our group deposit is due imminently and once we have committed a headcount to our travel vendors, registration will be permanently closed
