HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014, AND WELCOME BACK!  We hope that all of our families had a restful and joyous holiday season.  Here's what's coming up next for the new year:

NEW YORK TRIP preparation:
  • Parent chaperones will be needed for the trip.  Please contact Patty Lankenau if you are interested in accompanying us. Depending on response, we may not be able to accommodate all who are interested but will do our best.
  • Students should sign up for hotel room assignments NOW.  All rooms are for groups of four students.  Sign-up sheets are posted in the orchestra bulletin board as you enter the music department.
  • Next trip deposit in the amount of $150 is due the week of January 27 (before the teacher work days).  A final, personal trip billing will be sent to each student in early February (due mid-February) that takes into account all fundraising activities.
  • Student scholarship funds are available to sponsor a student on the trip, based on financial need. The scholarship application is posted on the orchestra bulletin board.  Interested students are strongly encouraged to apply ASAP!
COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER:  Our last fundraiser before the spring trip is kicking off this week.  Students will be selling ultra-yummy Classic Cookie Dough.  Information/order packets are being handed out in class.  Orders and payments are due by Friday, January 24.  Delivery will take place Tuesday, February 11 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Orchestra Room - just in time for Valentine's Day baking!  Don't miss this final opportunity to raise funds for the NY trip!  Please contact fundraising coordinator Terri Leckner at Cookie Dough Coordinator with any questions. See additional information on the Cookie Dough page.

DISTRICT XII ASSESSMENT will take place March 21 and 22 at South Lakes High School; as soon as we know of OHS's performance date/time assignments, we will let you know.  In the meantime, please clear those dates on your family calendars as full participation is MANDATORY for all students. This will be the most important performance event of the school year, and as such, will require some after-school rehearsals starting in February.  A schedule of rehearsals will follow soon.

We're looking forward to the new year of Teamwork - Camaraderie - Passion - Excellence - Music with you!
