OHS Orchestras News and Reminders (Week of January 20th)

posted Jan 19, 2014, 5:18 PM by Oakton Orchestras

  • More Students Needed for NY Trip!  We would love to have a few more students participate in this wonderful (and FUN!) trip opportunity.  If you have reconsidered and can join us, please let Mr. Oppenheimer know this week!
  • Next trip deposit in the amount of $150 is due THIS WEEK (January 21 and 22).  NOTE THAT THIS IS AN EARLIER DEADLINE THAT ORIGINALLY POSTED due to travel agent requirements. Make check payable to "Oakton High School".  A final, personal billing statement will be sent to each student in early February reflecting the final balance due, taking into account all prior deposits and fundraising activities.  Final payment due date is February 10th.
  • Student scholarship funds are available to sponsor students on the trip, based on financial need. The scholarship application is posted on FCPS Blackboard and in the orchestra room.  Please contact Mr. Oppenheimer with any questions.  Interested students are strongly encouraged to apply ASAP!  Scholarship application deadline is this Friday, January 24.
COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER:  Our last fundraiser before the spring trip is winding down this week.  Students are selling ultra-yummy Classic Cookie Dough and other tasty products - Virginia Diner peanuts, Aunt Annie's pretzels, candles, magazines, pizzas and more!  Information/order packets were sent home a couple of weeks ago.  Orders and payments are due THIS FRIDAY, January 24.  Delivery will take place Tuesday, February 11 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Orchestra Room - just in time for Valentine's Day baking!  Don't miss this final opportunity to raise funds for the NY trip and shop for Valentines Day!  Please contact fundraising coordinator Terri Leckner at Cookie Dough Coordinator with any questions.

DISTRICT XII ASSESSMENT will take place March 21 and 22 at South Lakes High School; as soon as we know of OHS's performance date/time assignments, we will let you know.  In the meantime, please clear those dates on your family calendars as full participation is MANDATORY for all students. This will be the most important performance event of the school year, and as such, will require some after-school rehearsals starting in February.  A schedule of rehearsals will follow soon. In the meantime, all students should already be diligently practicing!

Have a great week!
