Oakton Orchestras Reminders (Week of March 2nd)

Despite Mother Nature's latest surprises, the OHS Orchestras will forge ahead with a busy week of activities!

Pre-Assessment Concert, Tomorrow/Tuesday Night!  March 3rd at 7 p.m. in the OHS Auditorium.  Call time for musicians is 6 p.m.  Participation is mandatory for all students to adequately prepare for this weekend's Assessment!  Parents, if you volunteered to bring goodies for the post-concert reception last week, please remember to bring them tomorrow night. 

Annual Orchestra Assessment This Weekend!  March 6 and 7th at Falls Church High School (NOT OHS). Each of our orchestras will be performing for adjudicated ratings - this is the equivalent of an Orchestra SOL and attendance is mandatory for every student.  Here is the performance schedule for each of our three groups:

Concert: Friday, March 6th - Arrive 3:30pm – Storage room 3:50 – Warm up 4:20 – Performance 4:50 – Sight read 5:10 

Symphonic: Saturday, March 7th - Arrive 9:00am – Storage room 9:30 – Warm up 10:00 – Performance 10:30 – Sight read 11:00 

Chamber: Saturday, March 7th - Arrive 2:15pm – Storage room 2:30 – Warm up 3:00 – Performance 3:30 – Sight read 4:10 

All performances are at FALLS CHURCH HIGH SCHOOL – 7421 Jaguar Tr. Falls Church 22042

Volunteers Needed for Assessment Weekend!  Oakton is hosting this year's Assessment event.  In our capacity as hosts, we are providing 100% of the volunteer needs.  Mr. Oppenheimer has posted sign-up sheets in the Orchestra Room for student help.  Posted below are links for parents to volunteer in various designated two-hour shifts throughout the weekend.  EVERY FAMILY (BOTH STUDENTS AND PARENTS) ARE EXPECTED/BEGGED TO VOLUNTEER in some capacity.  Students will receive service hour credits. Parents will receive hugs or handshakes from Mr. Oppenheimer (your option).  Every volunteer will receive our enthusiastic and heartfelt appreciation!  This event is a HUGE undertaking, with over 30 different high school orchestras and over 1,000 student musicians participating, and it requires the support of ALL of us to ensure its success.
