CONCERT COUNTDOWN!

posted Dec 10, 2013, 6:09 PM by Oakton Orchestras

HOLIDAY CONCERT THURSDAY EVENING! Our next concert is in two days:  Thursday, December 12 at 7 p.m. OHS Auditorium.  Call time (check-in) is 6 p.m.  Invite family and friends to celebrate the holiday season with a wonderful (and FREE!) evening of musical merry-making!  NOTE THAT STUDENTS WILL DEBUT THEIR NEW FORMAL CONCERT ATTIRE AT THIS CONCERT - please make sure that all hemming and ironing is done in time!  Students are also asked to bring a fun HOLIDAY HAT from home for the grand finale performance.

POST-CONCERT RECEPTION.  Symphonic families are hosting the post-concert reception in the lobby.  Anne Suh has sent out a Sign-Up Genius invitation to Symphonic families to contribute goodies and set-up items.  In case you missed it, the link is here Holiday Concert Reception Sign-Up.  Thanks in advance for your contributions!

CONCERT RECORDINGS!  We would love to have a good quality sound recording of next week's concert. If you have a decent recording device and would like to help, please let contact Mr. Oppenheimer.

Note that a professional video recording of the concert will be available for purchase at the concert for a price of $10.  Consider this special holiday gift for grandparents and other family members who, sadly, might be missing the evening's program. You'll want to re-live the musical magic yourself, so bring your checkbook!

ADDITIONAL DECEMBER CONCERT AND REHEARSAL DATES FOR CHAMBER ORCHESTRA!  Chamber Orchestra families should mark their calendars for the following additional upcoming rehearsal and concert dates:

After-School Rehearsal Tomorrow - Wednesday, December 11 from 2:15 to 4 p.m.

Cougar Time Rehearsal: Monday, December 16

Chamber Orchestra/OHS Chorus combined concert:  Tuesday, December 17th at 7 p.m. OHS Auditorium (mandatory concert event). Call time is 6:45 p.m.

"Carols in the Concourse" Run-Out Concert:  Thursday, December 19 from 2:30 to approx. 8 p.m., Dulles International Airport. United Airlines has invited us to perform holiday music in the concourse to boost seasonal spirit for tired travelers.  School bus will transport kids to and from the airport.  Parents will need to pick up their kids from OHS when we return. Students should contact Mr. Oppenheimer ASAP if they are NOT  able to participate.   ALSO, STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING AN OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT-ISSUED ID TO THE CONCERT in order to satisfy TSA screening.  Please contact Mr. Oppenheimer with any questions.

Enjoy the rest of your snow day, and PRACTICE!

Vounteer Team Co-Chairs
