Cheesecake Sales/Trip Deposit Due Dates Extended

posted Nov 6, 2012, 1:24 PM by Oakton Orchestras
Dear Orchestra Parents and Students,

It was great to see such a good turnout for the concert and reception on Thursday.  Mrs. Myers really appreciated the opportunity to connect with her former students at the reception and I think the students and parents also enjoyed getting a chance to wish her well and to see her stylish new look!

The whole Rigo family deserves a huge thank you for working on many aspects of the reception.  In addition to coordinating the reception, Kathy Rigo brought along her mother and sister to help with set-up for the event and Maryann Rigo designed the program for the concert, and put together a video collage and a scrapbook for Mrs. Myers. We appreciate your making the orchestra a family affair!  Deb MacLean and Yon Kim took charge of the colorful decorations and delicious food. Thank you for making the reception a warm and successful event!

I failed to mention during the in-between concert announcements that Irene Lee not only made it into the Senior Regional Orchestra, but she is the CONCERTMASTER!  Irene, along with Ian Johnson and Emily Wang will represent Oakton High School at the Senior Regional Orchestra on Nov. 9-10 at Wakefield HS.

With Superstorm Sandy disrupting our week, we have decided to extend the deadline for submitting cheesecake sales forms and the trip deposit:
Cheesecake orders are now due on November 8th/9th. Please remember to make the check payable to OHS Orchestra Boosters.

The Spring trip deposits are due on November 15th/16th. The deposit of $250 for the trip to Philadelphia should be made to Oakton High School.

Help with Cheesecake Distribution – Nov. 19th  Tammy Ham, our cheesecake coordinator will need help with organizing the orders and distributing them on Monday, November 19th between noon and 4 pm.  Please contact Tammy (tammyham7@gmail.com) and let her know if you are available to help during one or both shifts (noon – 2 pm and 2 – 4 pm).  She needs eight volunteers so please e-mail Tammy if you are available that afternoon.

Barnes & Noble Bookfair Fundraiser – November 23rd  (Black Friday) at Fair Lakes Barnes & Noble  9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. We need students to play holiday music in small ensembles, do crafts and bookmark decorating, and read stories to kids.  Sign-ups are in the Orchestra room.  Parents are needed to generally supervise during several shifts.  Please contact Connie Lehman (Connie.Lehman@mcldb.com) if you are able to assist.  Online ordering will also be available, so let friends and relatives know they can support OHS orchestras this way.  A code will be sent out soon for online shopping, as well as vouchers to distribute.  Barnes and Noble contributes a portion of their sales to our orchestra so the more sales attributed to OHS orchestras, the more we earn for the our orchestra boosters!  Thanks for your support of this great fundraiser!

Students – I hope you will enjoy your well-deserved time off on the teacher workdays!
Parents - Please remember to vote tomorrow, not that you could forget with all the ads and phone calls.  Soon we will be able to put all this election hoopla behind us.

Please congratulate Amanda Cerva when you see her.  The varsity girls' volleyball team beat Robinson on Sat. to win the District Finals!
Go Cougars!!!
